The plans changed slightly and we ended up renovating a school in a village called Ekotsie, in the Central Region. We stayed in a house in the next village. The house is owned by a judge who says it belongs to the community. A family with nine children lives in the back and to the right and became my best friends over the course of the trip. Here's a nice photo of most of them with some maize picked by Alex that day.
Emmanuel has the book, Aisha, Alex, Philip, Isaac, Daniel, Joshua and Dinah is in front in pink. The boy whose face you can't see very well is a friend. Alex is also a friend but is living with the family now and working for the parents. Bernice was there the week before but once school ended she left to spend the summer with her father. Most evenings we gathered on the porch to sing songs, laugh, play games, and just talk. Emmanuel's book is full of rhymes and songs like 'Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star' and 'I'm a Little Teapot.'
